ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gunnery Sergeant Elteto is a United States Marine trained at Company "M", 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. He graduated from Company "F", Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina,  and studied to be an Assault Amphibian Crewman at Assault Amphibian School Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California, joining the Mobility/Counter-Mobility Platoon of Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion. After the '98 Combined Arms Exercise season, he served as the company training NCO, and following a short service with General Support Platoon, he rejoined MCM, this time as part of Company "E". He was transferred to 3rd Platoon and deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. At Assault Amphibian School Battalion again, he served as crew chief, platoon sergeant, platoon commander, S-6, senior phase instructor, and multimedia specialist. During Operation "Enduring Freedom", he served under U. S. Marine Forces Central Command, attached to 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, U. S. Army Special Forces.

Gunnery Sergeant Elteto also served as a Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival and as a Martial Arts Instructor at Assault Amphibian Schools.

He is currently assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
